[ENG] The film portrait of the Palace of Justice alludes to the impenetrability, randomness and disorientation of the justice system in general. Delusions of grandeur and ostentatious displays of power are inscribed in the structure of a building that intimidates the body and dwarfs the human scale. Palais exudes ‘the ambiguity of the law, which is there to protect us, but whose architecture and bureaucracy intimidate and threaten us’. These are transcriptions of the body's journeys through the building to those of the hand on paper, mediated by the visualisation of images: by the eye. The series is organised into diptychs that correspond to two revisions of the same sequence, which nevertheless do not produce the same drawing. In Palais, it is not possible to make the same journey twice. As with the film, the annotations, far from tending towards the intelligibility of a shot, entangle it and evoke a certain opacity.
