[ENG] Filmed in October 2017 during the floods in Spanish Town, Jamaica, Lightning Dance investigates the influence of the indeterminate electric weather on bodily imagination. The black-and-white video features several young Jamaicans who, in company of the artist, perform solo and group dance routines next to a roadside shack, while heavy rain falls and a billowing and turbulent thunderstorm roars, soaking their clothes. Their movements refer to popular Jamaican Dancehall, a highly sexualized dance style, which Cecilia Bengolea sees as infused with magical healing powers. The sounds of thunderstorm and rain become the beats to which the choreography is synched; the only trace left of Dancehall music is the low-frequency base in the background, amplified by the intensity of the choreography. 

[CAST] Filmado en octubre de 2017 durante las inundaciones de Spanish Town (Jamaica), Lightning Dance investiga la influencia del indeterminado clima eléctrico en la imaginación corporal. El vídeo en blanco y negro muestra a varios jóvenes jamaicanos que, en compañía de la artista, realizan rutinas de baile en solitario y en grupo junto a una choza de carretera, mientras cae una fuerte lluvia y ruge una tormenta eléctrica ondulante y turbulenta que empapa su ropa. Los sonidos de la tormenta y la lluvia se convierten en los ritmos con los que se sincroniza la coreografía; el único rastro que queda de la música Dancehall es la base de baja frecuencia de fondo, amplificada por la intensidad de la coreografía.
