[ENG] The work of the artist Claudia Pagès (Barcelona, 1990) unfolds and contracts in multiple ways. In their process, word, body and movement circulate in multiple directions, tracing a tangled linguistic network of micro-narratives, which go through critical listening to the immediate environment and its registration, through tenacious writing. Thus, depending on the vital moment and the circumstances, their practice can take on a textual, performative and/or objectual body, in a pure vital drive to contain and capture the scattered map of habits, paths, relationships and conversations that make up our day to day life. 

Pagès has focused on the logistics system and its link to jurisdictional language, both operating in the verbal tense of a non-"nite and violent gerund" that has direct effects on bodies. Pagès’s artistic research addresses circulation and maintenance and their role in sustaining the status quo. The continuity of certain systems and institutions is maintained through what Pagès calls the “immobility of stable circulations” and “containment architectures” that uphold power through specific flows of goods, capital and value within a suspended and capturing present.

Her work has been exhibited at Chisenhale Gallery, London (2025); INDEX, Stockholm (2025); Freiburg Biennale (2025); Art Sonje Center, Seoul (2025); Manifesta 15, Barcelona (2024); IVAM, Valencia (2024); Sculpture Center, New York (2023); CA2M, Madrid (2023); Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona (2023); Tabakalera, Donostia (2022); Vleeshal, Middelburg (2022); MACBA, Barcelona (2022); CAPC, Bordeaux (2022); Kunstverein Braunschweig, Braunschweig (2021); and Sharjah Art Foundation, United Arab Emirates (2018).

She has published Her Hair (2020) with Onomatopee, Rats and Roaches (2020) with Jupiter Woods, Yaby, and AC/E. In 2024 she published her first novel, Més de dues aigües, with Empúries Narrativa. Her next publication with Wendy’s Subway is forthcoming in 2025.

Pagès was awarded the Ojo Crítico Prize for Visual Arts in 2022 and has undertaken residencies at Gasworks, London (2017), and Triangle France, Marseille (2020).

In 2025, she carried out a residency at EMPAC in Troy (USA) and she participated in the 18th Istanbul Biennial (September–November 2025). She has also present a solo exhibition at Mumok in Vienna. In 2026, she has been selected to represent Catalonia and the Balearic Islands at the Venice Biennale (May–November 2026). 

[CAST] La obra de la artista Claudia Pagès (Barcelona, 1990) se revela y se contrae en múltiples maneras. En sus procesos, palabra, cuerpo y movimiento circulan en multiples direcciones, trazando una red lingüística enredada de micro-narrativas, las cuales pasan por la escucha crítica del entorno inmediato y su registro a través de una escritura tenaz. Así, dependiendo del momento vital y las circunstancias, su práctica artística puede enfrentarse en un cuerpo textual, performativo y/o objetual, en una dirección pura y vital para contener y capturar el disperso mapa de hábitos, patrones, relaciones y conversaciones que construyen nuestra vida cotidiana.

Pagès se centra en el sistema logístico y su vínculo con el lenguaje jurisdiccional, ambos operando en el tiempo verbal de un no-"gerundio finito y violento" que tiene efectos directos sobre los cuerpos. La investigación artística de Pagès aborda la circulación y el mantenimiento y su papel en el sostenimiento del status quo. La continuidad de ciertos sistemas e instituciones se mantiene a través de lo que Pagès llama la "inmovilidad de las circulaciones estables" y "contenedores arquitecturales" que sostienen poder a través de flujos específicos de bienes, capital y valor dentro de un presente suspendido y capturado.

Pagès fue galardonada con el Premio Ojo Crítico de Artes Visuales en 2022 y ha realizado residencias en Gasworks, Londres (2017), y Triangle France, Marsella (2020).

En 2025 realizó una residencia en EMPAC, Troy (EE. UU.) Participó en la 18ª Bienal de Estambul (sept.–nov. 2025) y ha sido seleccionada para representar a Cataluña y las Islas Baleares en la próxima Bienal de Venecia (mayo–noviembre de 2026). Actualmente presenta una exposición individual en Mumok (Viena).
