(CAST) ""And if I devoted my life to one of its feathers?”(¿Y si dedicara mi vida a una de sus plumas?)", escribe la poeta y activista chilena Cecilia Vicuña en un poema sin título de finales de los 60 y principios de los 70. Con esta pregunta, que la Kunsthalle Wien y la Wiener Festwochen han elegido ahora como título de su proyecto conjunto, Vicuña contrarresta los impulsos antropocéntricos y heteropatriarcales con la curación y el aprecio, reviviendo los vínculos estéticos y espirituales entre entidades y mundos humanos y no humanos. En consonancia con estas aspiraciones, la exposición comisariada por Miguel A. López reflexiona sobre la lógica de la explotación, la extracción acelerada de materias primas y la destrucción del medio ambiente como herencia colonial. Cuenta la historia de las luchas indígenas por la supervivencia colectiva y celebra los encuentros definidos por la solidaridad en su resistencia a la misoginia, la violencia imperialista y la opresión estatal. Algunas de las contribuciones son una respuesta específica a la pandemia de Covid-19, no sólo como una crisis sanitaria, sino también como una crisis de justicia ecológica y social. ¿Y si dedicara mi vida a una de sus plumas? combina obras de más de 35 artistas de todo el mundo para iniciar en Viena una conversación única sobre el poder, la soberanía, la autorrepresentación y la reivindicación de una pluralidad de opciones vitales.
(ENG) "And if I devoted my life to one of its feathers?” writes the Chilean poet and activist Cecilia Vicuña in an untitled poem from the late 1960s/early 1970s. With this question, which Kunsthalle Wien and Wiener Festwochen have now chosen as the title for their joint project, Vicuña counters anthropocentric and hetero-patriarchal urges with healing and appreciation, reviving the aesthetic and spiritual bonds between human and non-human entities and worlds. In keeping with these aspirations, the exhibition curated by Miguel A. López reflects on the rationale of exploitation, the fast-paced mining of raw materials, and environmental destruction as a colonial legacy. It tells the story of indigenous struggles for collective survival and celebrates encounters defined by solidarity in their resistance to misogyny, imperialist violence, and state oppression. Some of the contributions are a specific response to the Covid-19 pandemic, not just as a health crisis, but also as one of ecological and social justice. And if I devoted my life to one of its feathers? combines works by more than 35 artists from around the world in order to initiate in Vienna a unique conversation about power, sovereignty, self-representation, and the reclaiming of a plurality of life choices.
