(ENG) This work is a hand-drawn children’s book about a father who is a hero—but a hero of the patriarchy. The image introduces the different characters of a story that explores the legal mechanisms behind racist and patriarchal abuse and violence. Ortiz addresses how psychological oppression and its forms of economic, mental, physical, and emotional confinement, particularly as experienced by single mothers while parenting, is close to the social quarantine being enforced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The book is available for free download at kunsthallewien.at/en/papapatriarchy. This work was produced for the exhibtion "And if I devoted my life to one of its feathers?" curated by Miguel A. López.
(CAST) Esta obra es un libro infantil pintado a mano sobre un padre que es un héroe, pero un héroe del patriarcado. La historia del libro explora los mecanismos legales detrás del abuso y la violencia racista y patriarcal. Ortiz aborda cómo la opresión psicológica y sus formas de confinamiento económico, mental, físico y emocional, particularmente como la que experimentan las madres solteras mientras son madres, está cerca de la cuarentena social que se está imponiendo debido a la pandemia COVID-19.
