Esther Ferrer (Group show): "Cuando cambia el mundo. Preguntas sobre arte y feminismos", Centro Cultural Kirchner, Buenos Aires. 04.03.21 >30.06.21

(ENG) 2021 is heralded as the year of a new beginning. We have experienced the extreme transformation of the life experiences we knew. We can still recall the strange perceptions that swept through us as the world's cities emptied. Futuristic, extreme, dystopian fictions of empty cities became over the months possible, even commonplace forms. Isolation left many women at the mercy of their aggressors. It also revealed the multiple meaning of domesticity. Care economies became visible and roles were dismantled. Feminism brings together a critical matrix that proposes to rethink the ways in which we have known the world, instruments for understanding contemporaneity, imaginaries of care for the future.

The works in this exhibition address this state of affairs. Although they were made before the pandemic, they propose ethical, aesthetic, conceptual and political strategies from which we can rethink everything. As an expression of parallel, de-normatised and alternative thinking, art expands the ways of understanding the world.

Works by Aline Motta, Esther Ferrer, Joiri Minaya, Pau Delgado Iglesias and Sebastián Calfuqueo propose agendas of diverse feminisms, powerful in historical terms, urgent in contemporary terms.
