The screenings complement the exhibition dedicated to the artist "Empathy" at the Antoni Tàpies Foundation, on show until the 16th of October 2016.
This Friday 2 and Saturday 3 September, two double sessions devoted to Harun Farocki, writer, photographer and filmmaker German subject of the exhibition "Empathy" at the Antoni Tàpies Foundation. The four films programmed will reveal Farocki's main interest to unveal is behind the images produced by contemporary society.
On Friday, September 2, at 19:00, Peter Lorre - doppelte Das Gesicht / La Doble Cara de Peter Lorre (1984), a poignant film about the life of this legendary actor exiled in California.
The second film of this session is Jean Marie Straub und Danièle Huillet bei der Arbeit an einem Film nach Franz Kafkas Romanfragment / Jean-Marie Straub y Danièlle Huillet están rodando una película según la novela "América" de Kafka (1983), a self-portrait and a tribute to Jean-Marie Straub, an exemplary teacher and filmmaker for Farocki.
On Saturday, September 3, at 19:30, Der Geschmack December Lebens / Taste of Life (1979), a film in which Farocki captures images of everyday life while recalls Berlin in the Twenties as portrayed in Walter Ruttmann; and then it will be followed by Leben - BRD / Life - West Germany (1989-90), a surprising dissection of modern life in the Federal Republic of Germany.
