(ENG) Invoice is a video installation in which three singers perform an adaptation of Gregorian chant O Virgo Splendens, replacing the original text with the enumeration of the invoices issued during the process of making the work.
A distinctive feature of Gregorian chant is the rather absent or non-existent display of the performer. In the art world, during the process of producing a work or exhibition, institutional budgets and policies can neutralize the initial idea to the point of limiting it and hindering its viability. Just as in Gregorian chant the subjectivity of the interpreter is subordinated to the authority of God, in the art world the artist is subordinated to institutional presuppositions and logic.
Invoice is a critical proposal that is born from a poetic action to make visible the, often hidden, processes and conditions that end up determining the final result of an artwork or artistic project.
This installation is a production of Cenre d'Art Tecla Sala to support contemporary creation. It will open on September 26, at 19.00h.
