[ENG] The duplicity of the meaning of the English word “nail” determines the presence of this object on the wall. This is a simple game in which the meaning of the word is being displaced. “Nail” in English means a human nail, but it also refers to a metal spike that acts as a hook on the wall, and here, the first meaning of the word has replaced the second in its function. Thus, this work has a reading that is poetic and addresses the recurrent ontological vision we find in other works by the artist: that of the individual as a lost, or confused being who does not conform to the collective structures that he himself has created.  Understood like this,  the attribution of an impossible role to nail bit (the residual part of a man, in fact) is not only  absurd but acts as a metaphor of human confusion.

[CAST] La duplicidad de significado del vocablo nail en lengua inglesa determina la situación de esta uña sobre la pared. Se trata de un simple juego en el que el significado de la palabra es desplazado. Nail significa uña, pero también clavo, y aquí la primera ha sustituido a la segunda en sus funciones. Así, la razón de esta pieza tiene una lectura que es poética pero que también apunta a la cuestión ontológica: el rol que acostumbramos a otorgar a cada objeto ha sido confundido, o parece absurdo y esto, desde la metáfora, la incluye en la larga serie de trabajos y acciones que Jaime Pitarch ha llevado a cabo durante años a partir de su visión del individuo como un ser extraviado o confundido que no se adapta a las estructuras colectivas que ha ido creando.
