(ENG) Fragment 03, Hit Me, is an installation of inflatable plastic punching toys Gaussi found in a Kabul bazaar which to her resemble soldiers because they carry guns and have “007” written on their forheads.
“In 2010, walking in an old Kabul bazaar, my eyes caught inflated punching toys. I collected them. They were lying in a crowd of dust. Looking at all of them in their inflated state, they gave the impression of power. They resembled soldiers because they carried handguns and on their hats was written 007. Yet, their visual authority diminished when I noticed that on their noses was written 'hit me'. I bought them and took them with me back to Berlin.
Looking back at the history of the region it seems to me that power mutates and changes. Absolute power becomes void, dissolves and gets deflated when confronted. It is no more clear who is on the offensive and who is on the defensive. Hit me, is a kind of invitation to question where power resides and what empowers it.”
(CAST) Fragment 03, Hit Me, es una instalación de juguetes de plástico anti-estrés que Gaussi encontró en un bazar en Kabul y que para ella parecen soldados porque están armados y en sus frentes se encuentra escrito “007”.
“En 2010, mientras caminaba por un antiguo bazar de Kabul, mis ojos se toparon con unos juguetes anti-estrés inflados y me los quedé. Estaban tumbados y tenían un montón de polvo. Mientras estaban inflados daban la impresión de poder. Se parecían a los soldados porque llevaban armas de mano y en su sombrero llevaban escrito 007. Sin embargo, su autoridad visual disminuía al darme cuenta de que en sus narices estaban escritas las palabras “Hit Me" (Golpéame). Los compré y me los llevé de vuelta a Berlín.
Mirando hacia atrás en la historia de la región me parece que el poder se transforma y cambia. El poder absoluto se convierte en algo vacío, que se disuelve y se desinfla al ser confrontado. Ya no se distingue claramente quien está a la ofensiva y quien a la defensiva. Hit me es una especie de invitación a cuestionar el poder existente y lo qué lo hace posible".
