This project is an analysis of the Flamenco culture in Spain. The series depicts a large constellation of flamenco spaces along a wide geography of both historical and contemporary sites, where the structure and the everyday life of flamenco culture is produced today, as well as the people and different agents involved in it. This series updates the iconography of flamenco, by overcoming its hyper-codified representation based on mid-20th century neorealist grammar and on the trope of the artist-performer in action.
CAST
Se trata de un proyecto que documenta fotográficamente una selección de lugares históricos significativos donde puede visibilizarse la estructura y el funcionamiento de la cultura flamenca contemporánea, así como el trabajo de las personas y agentes implicados en ella. Esta propuesta compila un repertorio de imágenes que intenta actualizar la geografía visual del flamenco, superando la sobre-codificación proporcionada por las gramáticas neorrealistas y por el tropo del intérprete en plena actuación.
