180° Fragments is composed by all the little photographic fragments that are part of the work 180°  , which was exhibited at the Catalan Pavilion of the Venice Biennale in 2011. Here the initial image of 180° has exploded, and is impossible to reconstruct the initial image from its fragments, which are now deformed as a result of the explosion, freed from a promise of unity that is no longer possible to fulfill, giving the image the possibility of reaching other possible meanings. The sum of all of them makes a reference to the great revolutionary contribution of photography: to bring everything to the surface and make it available for a new organization, thus destroying the idea of the existence of privileged situations. From these fragments the image opens up and it separates itself from what it was at first.

At the beginning of the XXI century all forms of moving images that developed in the twentieth century (film, tv, video, etc) appear as mutations of photography. Photography ignaugurated the technical image, one that is performed through a device and that is reproducible. With the emergence of digitazation all previous disciplinary divisions have been disrupted and in the same way, this has led to the loss of “reality” in an image, a principle that photography had contributed to, and that it has been now modified.

CAST
