'Conversación con Manuel Borja-Villel', de Marcelo Expósito // Marcelo Exposito's 'Conversation with Manuel Borja-Villel'

Manuel Borja-Villel is the most internationally claimed Spanish museum director. This conversation follows his professional career, composed by three consecutive periods in charge of Fundació Antoni Tàpies, MACBA and Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the institution of which he’s currently the director.

This book consists of Borja-Villel’s first intellectual and professional biography, through which the consecutive conjunctions of arts relations, public cultural politics and the situation of democracy in Spain since 1990 are also commented. The book sets out a series of useful reflections when considering how citizens can induce institutional changes, and vice versa, how people can govern the institutions that represent them.

2It’s clear that culture and its institutions can’t stay on the sidelines of our time’s great political challenges. Precisely now the conditions for new institutions to take shape have arisen.” Manuel Borja-Villel
