At Loop Festival 2023, ángels barcelona showcases three distinct video artworks by Maria Alcaide, Cecilia Bengolea and Claudia Pagés in its project space.

Maria Alcaide's project Le Ventre de Paris, 2023  is a research based on the novel "Le Ventre de Paris" by Emile Zola. Where she has focused on the poetical and political potential of the novel and how it portrays the city centre of Paris. Nowadays, the place where the novel takes place is still a market, a big mall where lots of people from the outskirts of the city come to do the shopping. It is the perfect place to make a social analysis of how power relationships based on class, gender and race are at the core of urban planning.

Cecilia Bangolea's artwork No Time for Dance, 2023 developed from the shame of being from this planet. No reasons left to dance or celebrate in the escalation of cruelty and darkness. In the rare moments of dance, she finds herself doing it through other bodies on other planets. Speculative multidirectional algorithmic bodies, meteorites, interstellar children with tentacles, butterflied limbs and bodies of gas integrate this repertory.

Claudia Pagès's video sculpture Walking the Gerund Mountain (Montjuic bando port)2022 shows the artist walking around the Montjuïc, the mountain overlooking the port of Barcelona. In their walks, we cross different moments of the past and present history of the place that carry within violent symbolic structures. Imported palm trees gardens, giant reeds growing next to a castle built to bomb the city, lookouts for the tourists, a nineteenth-century graveyard for the bourgeoisie, and a mass grave from the Civil War; on the other hand, scattered clothes, scraps, raves, and cruising spots.
