Enlarged and colour-corrected image of seven marble fragments dislodged from the second toe of Michelangelo’s David during the 1991 incident. The smallest piece is the size of a chickpea, the largest an almond.
The original document is held in the photographic archive of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure e Laboratori di Restauro and reproduced with the institution’s explicit permission.
