(ENG) In Time’s Tail (2025), Saodat Ismailova turns to a material and cultural symbol deeply rooted in her region: the horse. Continuing her exploration of possible surfaces for video projection, the work employs a screen made of horsehair—a choice that emerged from the artist’s research on traditional veils. Once used to conceal women’s faces and emotions, the veil here is reversed and unwoven. Female faces appear openly, looking directly into the camera. Their whispering voices address the viewer as if transmitting knowledge across generations. The domestication of the horse, believed to have originated in the steppes of Central Asia, fundamentally altered humanity’s perception of time, distance, and thought. Time’s Tail extends Ismailova’s reflection on temporality, tracing how the act of riding a horse reshaped our relationship to movement and the passing of time.

(CAST) En Time’s Tail (2025), Saodat Ismailova recurre a un símbolo material y cultural profundamente arraigado en su región: el caballo. Continuando con su exploración de posibles superficies para la proyección de vídeo, la obra emplea una pantalla hecha de crin de caballo, una elección que surgió de la investigación de la artista sobre los velos tradicionales. El velo, que antes se utilizaba para ocultar el rostro y las emociones de las mujeres, aquí se invierte y se deshilacha. Los rostros femeninos aparecen abiertamente, mirando directamente a la cámara. Sus voces susurrantes se dirigen al espectador como si transmitieran conocimientos a través de las generaciones. La domesticación del caballo, que se cree que se originó en las estepas de Asia Central, alteró fundamentalmente la percepción de la humanidad sobre el tiempo, la distancia y el pensamiento. Time’s Tail amplía la reflexión de Ismailova sobre la temporalidad, trazando cómo el acto de montar a caballo remodeló nuestra relación con el movimiento y el paso del tiempo.
