[ENG] Chillahona tells a story of a young woman who has self-isolated inside of an ancient cell of seclusion in one of the oldest cemeteries of Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The woman in her mid 30’s is going through a critical moment of her life; in a state of full apathy she is questioning her life, which seems meaningless to her. Her monologue narrates an act of exorcism chasing out her doubts, fears and memories. An episode of violence in her past might have brought depression or she might have been possessed by spirits calling her to accept her vocation as clairvoyant.
The story follows a gradual transformation of the character into a new body that goes through a ritual of purification and metamorphosis: from mineral and animal worlds through different steps of self discovery culminating in a new awakening or new life.
The experience inside of the chillahona slowly unravels and opens up to different landscapes and spaces where the soul of the character travels and is pictured in the film. As some local traditions say: there are
360 000 worlds and we are living in one of them, but inside the chillahona, the hidden becomes visible and the sacred is unveiled.
The work tells a story of search and spiritual journey covering ancient pre islamic rituals, ancestral knowledge and local understanding of the cycle of life and its possible alternatives through the critical moments of one’s personal life.
[CAST] Chillahona cuenta la historia de una joven que se aísla en una antigua celda de reclusión en uno de los cementerios de Tashkent, Uzbekistán. La mujer, en sus treinta, está pasando por un momento crítico de su vida; en un estado total de apatía se cuestiona su vida, que la encuentra sin sentido. Su monólogo narra un acto de exorcismo que ahuyenta sus dudas, miedos y recuerdos. Un episodio de violencia en su pasado podría haberle provocado una depresión o podría haber sido poseída por espíritus que la llaman a aceptar su vocación como clarividente.
La historia sigue la transformación gradual del personaje en un nuevo cuerpo que pasa por un ritual de purificación y metamorfósis: desde el mundo mineral y animal, pasando por diferentes etapas de autodescubrimiento, culminando en un nuevo despertar o nueva vida.
La experiencia dentro de Chillahona se va desvelando poco a poco y se abre a diferentes paisajes y espacios por los que viaja el alma del personaje y que se representan en la película. Como dicen algunas tradiciones locales: 360.000 mundos y nosotros habitamos en uno de ellos, pero dentro de Chillahona, lo oculto se hace visible y lo sagrado se desvela.
Este trabajo cuenta la historia de un viaje de búsqueda y espiritual, que abarca antiguos rituales preislámicos, conocimientos ancestrales y la comprensión local del ciclo de la vida y sus posibles alternativas a través de los momentos críticos de la vida personal.
