(CAST) Si la década de 1980 representó en Europa una vuelta al orden, a la reivindicación de cierta formalidad en el arte, a los formatos convencionales de la pintura y la escultura ampliamente aceptados por el mercado, la de 1990 retomó gran parte de las experiencias conceptuales de décadas anteriores. De esta manera, se recuperaron prácticas relacionadas con el cuerpo humano a las que conjuntamente denominamos arte de acción. En España adquirieron aún mayor relevancia, con iniciativas múltiples que han ejercido un inmenso impacto en el arte desde entonces hasta la actualidad. Ese arte de acción se expresó frecuentemente en forma de performances –que acostumbraban a circular en ámbitos muy restringidos, en festivales o encuentros‒ y su expresión más heterogénea, que se ha venido a denominar performatividad.

(ENG) While in Europe the 1980s represented a return to order, to the demand for a certain formality in art and to the conventional formats of painting and sculpture widely accepted by the market, the 1990s revived a large part of the Conceptual experiences of the preceding decades, notably the sixties and seventies. In this way, practices related to the human body were recovered, which we jointly call action art. In Spain, this history has a particular relevance, with multiple initiatives that had an immense impact on art from then onwards. This art of action was frequently expressed in the form of performances – which usually occurred in very restricted or unconventional contexts such as festivals or gatherings – and their more heterogeneous expression that has come to be called performativity.
