Joan Fontcuberta

Joan Fontcuberta's New project "Gastropoda"
 Paris Photo 14.11>17.11

Joan Fontcuberta´s new project "Gastropoda" will be presented by àngels barcelona gallery at Paris Photo (Stand B21).
Gastrópoda addresses the process of transformation and degradation of iconic images. This series is composed by an accumulation of printed images that have been transformed by the corrosive action of snails. With this provocation, Fontcuberta manages to conceive a critical reflection on the authorship and production methods of contemporary artworks whist pointing at the current trend of image over consumption.

Joan Fontcuberta is one of the most inventive contemporary photographers, with a long-standing career of achivement in which he has been constantly investigating and questioning the photographic medium. His work is distinguished by original and playful conceptual approaches that particularly explore photograpic conventions, means of representation and calims to truth. The Maison Européenne de la Photographie will devote a major retrospective of his work in January 2014.
