Cecilia Bengolea, François Chaignaud & Craig Black Eagle performing at FIAC PARADES, Paris (2019)

Through video, song, contortion, and dance, the artists confront their practices devising an original experience for the Khorsabad Room at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The chimeric creatures surrounding the room – bulls, eagles, and men – serve as ideal sounding boards for their research into spiritual, animist, and magical dances and music. From the Mesopotamians to the Rhenish visionaries of the twelfth century, to the virtuosos of Jamaican dancehall, it is the song and dance of the eagle that intertwines these various languages, whose beauty coupled with their recontextualisation is both moving and thought provoking.
