(CAST) Esta exposición presenta tres trabajos en los que la reflexión de la artista sobre la danza, el juego perceptivo entre interioridad y exterioridad del cuerpo, así como las relaciones rítmicas entre comunidad social y naturaleza, se hacen patentes como lenguaje coreográfico. La reciente producción Lightning Dance (2018) se basa, como muchos proyectos de Bengolea, en una profunda colaboración entre la artista y los performers que protagonizan la obra. En este caso, la pieza se inscribe en la serie de trabajos realizados por Bengolea en torno a la cultura dancehall de la isla de Jamaica. Esta vibrante pieza investiga la influencia de la electricidad atmosférica en el comportamiento y la imaginación. El ritmo que construye el video muestra un constante entrelazamiento de sonidos musicales y ambientales, truenos y percusiones, sincronizados como parte de un único sound system. La danza es, para estos grupos de bailarines, no solo una forma de expresión; también está dotada de poderes curativos.

(ENG) This exhibition presents three works where the artist’s reflection on dance, the sensorial interplay between the body’s interiority and exteriority, as well as the rhythmical relations of social community and nature, manifest through choreographic language. The recent production Lightning Dance (2018) is, as many of her projects, based on a profound collaboration between the artist and the featured performers. The work, in this case, belongs to the series developed by Bengolea around dancehall culture on the island of Jamaica. This vibrant piece investigates the influence of atmospheric electricity on behavior and the imagination. The rhythm constructed by the video shows a constant intertwining of musical and environmental energies, thunder and percussion, synchronized as part of a unique sound system. For these groups of performers, not only is dance a form of expression but it is also invested with curative powers.
